Thanks! Give money! Thanks!

Our sincere gratitude to those of you who have given to our Bike MS fundraising efforts. It's for a mighty good cause.

Still, we have two more riders (here) and (here) who need a few more bucks to reach their fundraising goal by tomorrow. If you're at all inclined to help out, now is the time to do so.

Thanks again!

Contribute to Bike MS!

Good morning! I've been doing a little site maintenance today. The first thing you might notice is I have added is a donation button on the right. Long time readers will know that Amy has been raising funds for the MS Society for many years now, but this is only the second year that she is participating in the Bike MS, taking place on Sunday, October 5, 2008.

This year, Amy has trickedrecruited eight other riders to go sixty miles, which is a pretty impressive feat in itself. Now all of us have to raise at least $100 by September 19. To help with that, I added the donation button, which will redirect you to one of the riders on the team. Any donations to the cause are much appreciated!

2008 MS Walk: One week away!

A week from today, the 20th annual MS Walk takes place. Amy has convinced about thirty of her students & colleagues to join her (and the dog) for this year's walk. Check out her fundraising pitch:

Dear friends and family,

For the 20th anniversary of the MS Walk (and my 10th anniversary participating), a group of students at my school have agreed to walk the 10 mile route on April 13th.

Many of my students need to raise at least $50 to participate. Won't you support them by donating on their behalf? I typically ask you to support me, but this year I am asking you to support them since they care!

If interested, please follow this link, choose a student and donate some $$ using the web site:

http://msnyc.kintera.org/walkms/teammartin

Want to walk? Join the team through the same link and ask your friends to donate!

We thank you!
-Amy

Grow a Mo for Prostate Cancer

Here occasionally we like to do things for a good cause. This month our friend Jason is spearheading a funny way to raise money for prostate cancer research. He's even got Bob Dylan helping him out. Check out the video and I'll include his appeal below the fold. I've pitched in a couple of bucks but I'm balking at growing a moustache of my own, mainly because I like being married!

[From Jason:]

During Movember (the month formerly known as November) many brothers will be growin a Mo (slang for Moustache) for The Prostate Cancer Charity.

Why...

- Prostate cancer is now the most common cancer diagnosed in men in the U.K. with at least one man dying every hour from the disease.

- One man in 11 will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime in the U.K.

As perhaps the most clean-shaven man you know, I would like to take up the challenge but I need your support.

A 'tache for cash - if you like.

And I've roped in a little help from my good friend - Mr Bob Dylan!

You can pledge your sponsorship to this great cause by going to http://www.movember.com/uk/donate, entering my registration number which is 120094 and your credit card details.

Or you can sponsor me by cheque made payable to "The Prostate Cancer Charity" clearly marking the donation as being for my Registration Number: 120094. *

Many thanks
Jason

*Please mail cheques to: The Prostate Cancer Charity, ATT: Movember, First Floor, Cambridge House, 100 Cambridge Grove, Hammersmith, London W6 0LE.

All donations are made directly to The Prostate Cancer Charity which will use the money to fund high quality research into the causes, treatment and impact of prostate cancer and to provide support and information to men and their families.
