This song reminds me of London for some reason. In particular, the record shops in Berwick Street. The last time I spent any significant time down there was in May 2005. I think I heard a remix of this tune at "Sounds of the Universe" but I may be imagining that.

I wonder how long those shops will last. Most of the record stores around here have closed, of course, a phenomenon I've noted in the past. I'm not that regretful about it -- the internet really does render a lot of what record stores did totally obsolete -- and frankly, I've become a little anti-nostalgic. But I suppose even I should admit it would be better to have "Rocks In Your Head" back than some idle real estate office down the block from me.

(LOVE LIVES ON A) WINDY HILL

I'm trying to come up with a song, as a basis for comparison, that is as calm, as placid, as this song by The Futures. Well, since a song-based metaphor is failing me, let's try something different. I listened to this one about six times in a row, and it was like having a soft fan blowing gentle pulses of air over you. If you've ever had trouble sleeping, and been up an hour or two, it was like that moment right before it happens when you realize that you're finally falling asleep after all that. Relief and bliss.

(Love Lives On A) Windy Hill is from 1975:

The first LP issued by The Futures -- a fine Philly vocal quintet who'd recorded a number of singles earlier in the 70s, but who finally cracked the LP racks with this 1975 release! The group's got harmony chops that are plenty strong -- with an ability to hit both a sweet soul sound and a deeper righteous groove that was being used by some of the funkier groups at the time.

Trump Soho videos

We took a few videos of the Trump Soho accident the other day. They're really nothing, but seems like people like that sort of thing! Have a good weekend.

Another Trump Soho accident

Another news bulletin from Trump Soho. This time, the accident was fatal, apparently. I heard several different versions of what happened out on the street, so I won't repeat any of them, but it's apparent the top Northeast corner of the building has failed.

Bus Gets Smashed By Evil Trump Soho

HUDSON SQUARE - Shortly before 9 a.m. this morning, the evil Trump Soho reached down and smashed up an innocent X6 bus that happened to be passing by.

Not content with rending the fabric of the historic and picturesque "Hudson Square" neighborhood, Trump Soho construction project seized on an opportunity to degrade and demoralize New York's famed public transportation system as well.

According to one eyewitness to the accident (whose account is obviously biased towards all things evil and Trump), the bus ignored verbal warnings and orange pylons to cut across Spring Street in order to reach its route up the Avenue of the Americas. The trip was cut short, however, when a crane load being lifted off a parked tractor trailer swung around and hit the bus, fracturing several windows and denting its frame. The eyewitness said, "He was too much in a hurry, now he's goin' nowhere!"
